HABITS
In keeping with the positive approach outlined by “The
Secret” and “Enjoy” (see this website,
www.davidhakim.com),
I will pretend as if I am 100% in the following
qualities, knowing that if I am not, I will more easily be
on the road to improvement:
I am LOVING toward myself and others, and as an
expression of this love I look directly at those to whom I
speak, and if to a single individual, I mention his/her
name.
I ACCEPT myself. “…I share with my heart and share
with my life as I feel, understand, see and know it….” (from
“Happiness,” this website.) I recognize that I can
accept the outcome of my actions because spirit is always
with me.
I am OPTIMISTIC. I see my efforts rewarded by the
positive benefits I desire.
I am OUTGOING. I recognize that “[I am] a child of
the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; [I] have
a right to be here.” (from “Desiderata” by Max Ehrman, 1927)
I TRUST myself and spirit, and believe that “[T]he
universe is unfolding as it should,” (also from the
“Desiderata”), and therefore I deal with all things in a
simple and straightforward manner.
I am FREE. I have learned from the past, live in
the present, and look forward to the future.
I am ASSERTIVE. I refuse to play games with myself
and let others play games with me. I do this by taking
the positive approach to the situation about me and clearly,
kindly, casually, decisively and slowly explain my position.
I respect the intelligence of others by using as few words
as possible.
I am HONEST, but not so honest that I am dishonest.
I am at PEACE with God.
I am CONFIDENT that no matter what happens I have the
backing of spirit.
I am ENERGETIC, and even though I think I have no energy,
I act as if I do. I know that such pretense is many
times rewarded by the acquisition of the positive goal I
desire.
I am MOTIVATED by believing that my effort will be
rewarded
I am FORGIVING of myself and others, and do this mainly
by not judging myself and others.
I am PERSISTENT in my efforts to accomplish my goals.
I am FLEXIBLE in recognizing that there is more than one
way to accomplish a goal.
I find the above positive assertions especially rewarding
because Francisco Coll, the founder of the Americana
Leadership College, mentioned repeatedly that those who
appear to be concerned about the fear of failure, which
includes the fear of rejection, are actually fearful of
success.
These attributes are part of what brings about charisma.
By maintaining a charismatic attitude I believe I increase
my ability to be successful.
I have found a great website which deals with fear of
rejection, fear of success and a great many other
psychological problems. It is
www.coping.org;
specifically, rejection is covered by
www.coping.org/relations/reject.htm
and success by
www.coping.org/growth/success.htm. The
website is entitled “Coping.org: Tools for Coping with
Life's Stressors. Coping.org
is a public service of James J. Messina, Ph.D. & Constance
M. Messina, Ph.D. Email:

Earlier on my website I dealt with coping situations in a
different manner through “Enthusiasm,” “Confidence,” “Child
Abuse,” “Rejoice” and “Happiness.”
